Our students are at the centre of everything we do at the academy, with a staff team, dedicated to the education and care of each and every one of them. We are a forward thinking and a rapidly developing academy, focussed on meeting the challenge that every new student brings. We support learners with Moderate Learning Difficulties, Severe Learning Difficulties and Autistic Spectrum Disorders aged 3-19. Our provision boasts a rapidly expanding 6th Form which provides learners with a strong preparation for their adult life. In addition to this, The Laurus base provides education to students with high functioning Autistic Spectrum Conditions, providing individual solutions to overcome their challenges.

Following a recent Ofsted inspection, the Academy was placed in to Special Measures. Significant headway has already been made in all areas highlighted by the inspectors and in all respects this is an exciting time to join the team. We have a newly established senior leadership team and governing board who are committed to leading our academy on our journey to becoming ‘good’ and then ‘outstanding’.

To support this journey and in order to add capacity we are looking to appoint an Assistant Head Teacher who will drive Teaching and Learning across the academy, from September 2017. If you are a colleague with a successful record of outstanding teaching, then this role offers an opportunity to challenge yourself in a new environment. The successful applicant will be responsible for developing Teaching and Learning by implementing new skills and working closely with colleagues to improve their practice. You will need a ‘can-do’ attitude that can inspire and engage learners, staff and our wider educational community. In return, you will be part of a strong team and will be given extensive support to develop to your full potential in this role and beyond. The management team are fully supportive of and encourage creative practise. We are interested in hearing from candidates who have special school or mainstream experience with a background in either primary or secondary education.

  • Have strong subject knowledge
  • Have exceptional communication skills
  • Be committed to providing a safe and challenging learning environment
