The school opened in September 2016 with Year 7, and has grown to a roll of 1200 students, aged 11-16, with a sixth form now confirmed to open in 2023.

The successful candidate will join a dynamic and ambitious leadership team, keen to see the school embed and extend the excellent foundations laid since we opened in 2016. We are seeking to appoint a leader with a clear and exciting vision for teaching, underpinned by creative, innovative and exciting pedagogical approaches, including the development of digital learning that will make learning great in every classroom, every day.

We are seeking an individual who is active, influential and outgoing, and firmly commitment to the values of our Trust. They must possess the credibility to drive forwards the quality of teaching, with a commitment to their own and others professional development. The successful applicant will be able to motivate and inspire others and be committed to working collaboratively with a Trust team of like-minded leaders.

The school has established an excellent reputation and since our second year of opening, the school has been heavily oversubscribed. We are seen in the local community as a vibrant and exciting place to be, underpinned by high standards and a core ethos of Enjoy, Respect and Achieve. As a new and growing school, this is a rare and exciting opportunity for a skilful leader to be a game changer, helping to shape our evolving culture and the final phase expansion of the school. Potential is just as important as experience.

You will need to demonstrate a commitment to and evidence of success in sustaining academic excellence, and development of the wider aspects of school life; that enable every child to succeed. Applicants should be excellent classroom practitioners in their own right; as well as being able to; work as part of a team, roll up your sleeves and inspire other staff to excel.

The South of England based Bohunt Educational Trust has evolved from Bohunt School in Hampshire, rated Outstanding in every category by Ofsted and was the TES School of the Year 2014. The growing Trust currently comprises 8 schools, and is part of both the HISP teaching school alliance and Wokingham Secondary Federation of Schools.

Potential candidates are strongly recommended to visit the school to get a feel for where we are now to assist with their applications. Bohunt School Wokingham opened its doors to Year 7 pupils in 2016. Having grown substantially since then, we are now heavily oversubscribed, with a school roll of 1200 students aged 11-16. With the exciting announcement of our expansion to include a sixth form and additional spaces in all year groups, we will soon see more students through to 18.

Our ethos of ‘enjoy, respect, achieve’ underpins our vision to give all students an outstanding education and develop skills in the classroom and beyond. These core values help our students flourish throughout their school career, and on into later life. Reflective of the success achieved in its first three years, Ofsted recognised that the “overall educational experience for many pupils at the school is ‘life-changing’.”

Our new site has been designed and built with education at the forefront and includes specialist teaching spaces and a whole school one to one iPad provision, as well a wide range of sports and extra-curricular provision. We are leaders in outdoor education with an outdoor classroom, the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme and Big Expeditions to wilderness locations, alongside a variety of other trips at home and abroad.

We are part of the supportive and innovative Bohunt Education Trust, a MAT with nine  schools including two Sixth Forms and a boarding facility. We may be separated geographically, however, all BET schools are student centred, sharing an uncompromising belief in high achievement and unconditional positive expectations, a real sense of community and a dynamic, innovative approach to education.

Bohunt School Wokingham (BSW) is looking to appoint highly motivated, dynamic and innovative individuals with the desire to be part of our expanding school. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to play an active part of the development and direction of the school as it grows, with rich opportunities for professional and career development both within the school and across the wider Academy Trust.

You will need to demonstrate a commitment to sustaining academic excellence, helping every child succeed and the potential to be an excellent classroom practitioner. As well as being able to; work as part of a team, roll up your sleeves and inspire others to excel.
