Job overview

Hallfield School is a flourishing Prep School renowned for the quality of its extended curriculum, successes in Sport, the Arts and Academic Excellence, successfully preparing many of its pupils for entry to the highly selective local schools. One of the largest Prep schools in the country, Hallfield is an excellent co-educational independent day school for 560 boys and girls aged from 2 – 11 years, with a nursery for children aged from 3 months to 2 years old.

Situated in the centre of Edgbaston, close to the University of Birmingham, the school has extensive 20-acre grounds for playing fields.

The school has an outstanding academic reputation. It prides itself on looking after its children – enabling 95% of Year 6 to obtain their first-choice secondary school. This statistic is evidenced by a three-year running average of 83% success rate of children passing the Birmingham 11+ and an average of 30 scholarships being awarded to the highly selective Birmingham Independent Schools the last three years.

The position of Assistant Head: Teaching, Learning and Assessment (Upper School: Key Stage 2) is a new position in the Senior Leadership Team as the school has recognised that the transition between Pre-Prep and Key Stage 2, along with managing high expectations from parents across Key Stage 2, requires careful management and monitoring. We are now seeking to appoint a person who is passionate about teaching and learning and who understands the needs of this age range. We are looking for someone who has an innovative outlook and a commitment to the role, who has clear ambition and enthusiasm, and will be fully involved in the life of the school.

This is an excellent opportunity to join Hallfield at an exciting stage in its development. A new Headmaster has been appointed to start in September 2018. The successful candidate will join a re-formed Senior Leadership Team and be empowered to review, reform and lead teaching and learning in these crucial Year Groups.
