Hendon School is keen to appoint an inspiring and passionate Assistant Headteacher to start in September 2020 / January 2021.

Our school is an outstanding comprehensive school with a fundamental commitment to inclusive education that meets the needs of all students.  Our school community includes resourced provisions for deaf students and students with Autism.  We are proud of the achievements of our students and believe that this is in no small part due to the high standards of teaching and learning at the school. Our exciting and creative approach to learning cultivates growing intellectual curiosity and a sense of enquiry. Students are encouraged to develop as confident and independent learners.

The precise strategic and operational focus of the post will be finalised after the appointments are made in order to maximise the strengths of the successful candidate. We require leaders who have experience of some, or all, of the following areas: inclusion, data and examinations analysis, curriculum development and whole school pastoral leadership/management.

In choosing the Assistant Headteacher we will be looking for an outstanding teacher, someone with the ability to help maximise the continued development of this highly successful school and with the vision to embrace the ideas of the Headteacher and Governors. We are looking for an inspirational leader who is committed to the highest achievement for all and who will firmly support the ethos of the school.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of young people and expect all staff to share this commitment. All successful applicants will be required to undertake a criminal record check via the DBS prior to appointment.

Visits to the school (or conversations with key staff members during lockdown) are welcomed and can be arranged by emailing vacancies@hendonschool.co.uk

Hendon School is a popular, inclusive multi-cultural school with a commitment to the highest quality teaching and learning. We are passionate about education; students not only achieve outstanding exam results but experience an exceptional community programme. Many students have won local and national awards for their contributions to society.

Hendon School is a family – albeit a very large and diverse family – and we celebrate that. We are stronger because of our differences and because of the way that we work together. Our school is entering a new and dynamic phase of its development and this year we have been working to articulate the vision and values that underpin our school community.

At Hendon School we work in partnership with parents, the local community and other schools, both in England and Internationally. Recently we were honoured to be invited to join the Mayors Gold Club, which allows us to share good practice with other London schools. We are a National Citizen Service Champion School and hold the British Council International Schools Award. We work closely with our local feeder primary schools, both as part of our high involvement transition programme and also to enrich and inspire younger students.

Hendon is an amazing school. We are passionate about education and about working with our young people to give them the best opportunities and to help them to be ready for the next stage of their life. We take good care of them and work with them to unlock their potential.
