St. Gregory’s Catholic High School seeks to appoint an Assistant Head teacher to join our expanding senior leadership team in what is the start of a new chapter for our school building on current success.   Our school is at the heart of the thriving Catholic Parishes of West Warrington situated in an area of substantial growth next to all of the key motorway routes in the North West. We take pride in our relationship with the local community, partner primary schools and our partnerships within the archdiocese trust.

This is a wonderful opportunity for a professional with high ambition to join one of the highest performing schools in Warrington and the Liverpool Archdiocese to work with pupils and staff who have a love of learning.

St Gregory’s has expanded as a school over the past three years and the PAN has increased from 192 to 240 due to demand for pupil places. The school is now well oversubscribed with a waiting list for admission in every year group. This expansion in pupil numbers has coincided with a building refurbishment of 23 new classrooms, a new sports hall and a new chapel.

In November 2019, Ofsted inspected our school under the new inspection framework and graded the school as ‘Good’ in every area and the school was graded as ‘Outstanding’ in our Section 48 Inspection of the Catholic Life provision of the school in February 2019. We encourage all applicants to read both reports and to review our school website too.

The opening paragraph from the Ofsted report reads: “Pupils at St Gregory’s are confident and welcoming to visitors, they like each other”. There is a strong sense of community across the school which reflects the school vision. One pupil said “we are cared about as individuals, but because everyone cares, that makes us all one”

Due to our expanding senior team, we are happy to receive applications for leadership in areas covering Behaviour and Attendance but also Curriculum and Assessment and the post responsibilities will be finalised and determined by the skills and qualities of the successful candidate.

We are now relishing the challenge of continuing our successful journey towards providing an outstanding whole school provision. Your qualities will include being an outstanding communicator, demonstrating commitment and resilience in the face of challenges and showing passion and an ambition for all children.

You will have experience as an outstanding middle leader with a strong track record of impact or you may be an existing Assistant Headteacher wishing to join a new dynamic team and take on a new challenge.  Access to NPQ courses will provided to the successful applicant for continuous CPD.

In normal school opening circumstances, visits to the school are always warmly welcomed and encouraged however this currently restricted to government.  Telephone discussions with the head teacher can be arranged to discuss the position and our school in greater detail.

Closing Date; 24th April 2020

Shortlisting Date; 27th April 2020

Interviews; 4th May 2020

Further details and application forms are available from www.stgregoryshigh.com. Please return completed application forms to shutton@stgregoryshigh.com.  This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Values and vision

The mission statement of St Gregory’s reads: “This is our God, the servant King. He calls us now to follow him.” The school’s prayer is: “Inspire us to build a community based on love and respect. May we be empowered to challenge injustice every day. Help us to value and support each other to create a positive Learning environment where all may serve. Amen.”

The staff, parents, governors and students of St. Gregory’s Catholic High School aim to work in partnership to create a vibrant community in which all are valued. At the core of school life is a belief that there is no better inspiration than the example and teaching of Jesus Christ.

The school community seeks to set an example of service, inspired by Jesus, and in doing so fulfil the aspirations that it has for each of its pupils, and to foster their spiritual, academic and personal development.
