St Catherine’s is a very successful Catholic, comprehensive girls’ school based in Bexleyheath.

Following the promotion of the previous postholder to Deputy Headship, we are seeking to appoint an Assistant Headteacher to join our forward-thinking Leadership Team.  The specific responsibilities of the postholder will be dependent on the experience the successful candidate brings.  We aim to be flexible and give people the opportunity to work in many different areas of school leadership.

This is a great opportunity for a highly-motivated, ambitious professional to make an impact in our high performing school.

Candidates should have the following qualities:

• Commitment to securing the very best outcomes for all students

• Passion and enthusiasm for education and an excellent understanding of current trends and initiatives in the state secondary sector

• The ability to lead a team and manage change

• A keen desire to understand and deliver both academic and pastoral excellence for vulnerable students

If you feel that this position is of interest and you have the right experience, skills and are ready for fresh challenges, with the ambition to make a real impact then we would like to hear from you.

Our January 2019 Ofsted report highlights the wonderful school community and outstanding education provided to all of our students:

“Pupils’ outcomes and progress are impressive.”

“Pupils confirmed that they are always encouraged to attempt the extension work and to think more deeply about their learning.”

“You provide a broad and rich curriculum which includes a focus on creativity and exciting extracurricular activities.”

“Pupils like coming to school and attendance rates are well above the national average.”

“Pupils are full of praise for their teachers and especially value the care that they show.”

“Safeguarding is particularly effective.”

“Students feel safe and are confident to articulate even uncomfortable feelings.”

“Pupils’ work in a range of subjects showed that most able pupils are being stretched to do their best.”

“Girls told us that they embraced the challenge to achieve the highest GCSE grades.”

“Pupils behave courteously and considerately and show respect for adults and for one another.”

“Students are keen to learn and proud of their school.”

2019 GCSE results:

• Progress 8 - 0.77

• Attainment 8 – 56.03

We seek and welcome applications from candidates of all faiths and none, though support for our Roman Catholic ethos is required.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  The post is subject to vetting procedures including references and DBS checks.

Only applications on the school application form can be considered.  The closing date for applications is noon on Friday 18th October 2019 and completed application forms along with a supporting statement should be sent to Jane Lenihan at the school by e-mail: admin@stccg.co.uk

About St. Catherine's Catholic School

St. Catherine's Catholic School is a comprehensive stand-alone academy in Bexleyheath, within the London borough of Bexley. We are a Roman Catholic School and educate girls aged 11-16.

The school was opened in 1953 by La Sainte Union sisters as a convent school. Their aim was to further the mission of their own founder, Father Jean Debrabant. Father Jean Debrabant believed that only a Christian based education offered a sure hope "for the future of religion and society."

St. Catherine of Siena is the school’s patron saint.

We particularly welcome applications from candidates who will bring the world to our students and will help us to ensure our staffing body is fully representative of the rich diversity of London's community.
