The governors are seeking to appoint ambitious, creative and outstanding teachers and leaders who will lead teaching and learning in a double year group in the school.   

The school works in year group teams to develop a supportive and caring ethos for children, families and staff, in keeping with our school motto:  

Enjoy, Learn, Achieve  

Grove is a large, vibrant school that is committed to excellence. Staff and governors work together to improve the experience of our learners. It is oversubscribed school that has continued to maintain high standards, with high expectations of even better things to come.  

The post will include the core areas of: 

• a daily teaching commitment; 

• a key role in developing the quality of teaching and learning; 

• leading staff to improve outcomes for pupils; • an active member of the senior leadership team of the school;   Governors are seeking to appoint a candidate who: 

• is an outstanding classroom teacher; 

• is committed to raising standards and improving life chances for all children; 

• leads by example, working alongside colleagues to promote outstanding teaching and learning; 

• demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills; someone who motivates and inspires those working with them; 

• is experienced in leading and managing staff in schools; 

• leads with energy and enthusiasm; 

• is committed to actively involving parents and community in school life.  The school can offer you: 

• a comprehensive professional development programme geared towards preparing you for Deputy Headship and beyond; 

• coaching and mentoring from outstanding leaders;

Grove School is a mainstream, mixed, community primary school for pupils aged three to eleven. Located in Handsworth, Birmingham, it accommodates approximately 678 students.

Grove School was founded in 1903. The school is split on site, with its early years students and middle school in a Victorian building and Years 5 and 6 in a 1960s open-plan building.

Vision and values

Grove School aims to be a centre of learning that values academic excellence and uses innovative learning styles. The primary school promote values such as: be kind to others; respect all property; always do your best; be honest and tell the truth; aim to be good listeners and thoughtful speakers; and treat others as you would want to be treated. The school strives to prepare pupils for modern British life.

Reading, writing and mathematics are prioritised at Grove School. In addition, it acknowledges the importance of physical education and makes good use of sport premium funding, offering 68 clubs.

'This is a happy school. Pupils arrive with smiles on their face s and they are greeted with a smile in return. The immaculately well kept school building s and stunning grounds provide an oasis in the city ’’. Pupils feel exceptionally safe and well cared for in school because they are. The kindness that everyone shows to each other is evident in all aspects of school life. Pupils say everyone is kind with their actions and words'.

Staff are committed to ensuring all pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) achieve their very best . This commitment and determination ensure that all pupils achieve their best from very different starting points. Pupils settle to learning very well, including the youngest children in the early years.

Pupils behave sensibly at all times of the day. As pupils say, there are reminders everywhere. They listen carefully to their teachers and follow the well established school rules consistently Pupils relish learning new things. They can focus well during lessons because they are not disrupted from doing so by others.
