Job overview

We’re Co-op Academy Southfield – a special academy in Bradford (BD5) and we’re looking to appoint an Assistant Headteache. This is a key leadership role and you will be accountable for the strategic development of the specialist curriculum.

The successful candidate will;

  • Inspire, motivate and influence staff and students, in securing the highest standards of learning and teaching in order to promote the highest standards of progress and development for students. 
  • Be accountable for raising standards through leadership of school improvement areas. 
  • Engage all relevant staff collaboratively in the development of the provision.
  • Demonstrate effective and creative leadership of teams in order to secure sustainable school improvement.

We are Co-op Academy Southfield. Co-op Academy Southfield is a special secondary academy in Bradford, graded as 'good with outstanding features' by Ofsted.

Co-op Academy Southfield provides education for students aged 11 to 19 years with clearly identified special educational needs who have an Education Health and Care Plan.

With 310 students and over 200 staff the school is one of the larger special schools in the country. We have high aspirations for our students which means that we have to have high expectations of all of our staff.  A willingness  to communicate, collaborate and co-operate is essential if we are to get this right for our students and their families.

We are co-located in a purpose-built building with Co-op Academy Grange, a mainstream secondary school. Our sixth form provision is housed across Haycliffe Lane on a smaller site. It offers specialist education and training to provide pathways to our students for life after school.
