We are part of the newly formed Impact Multi Academy Trust, and we work closely within the Trust with our other three secondary schools and our three primary schools.

We are seeking to appoint a highly effective and motivated professional to the position of Assistant Headteacher and we are open to successful candidates who could join us from Easter 2023. The post is full-time but we will consider ways of making this post work 4 days a week for the right candidate.

  • Have a strong track record of success in middle-management, building strong relationships with staff across the school and in particular with heads of department, our mentors, induction tutors, trainee teachers and ECTs
  • Lead the school’s initial teacher education provision, including ensuring that all trainees receive effective mentoring, feedback and support
  • Ensure appropriate support for ECTs, mentors and induction tutors
  • Working in partnership with the AHT responsible for Teaching and Learning, design, develop and lead a whole-school CPD curriculum for teachers, that takes account of the evidence of what works and supports the delivery of our school development plan, including priorities on teaching and learning and on student outcomes
  • Work to build a culture of reading, understanding and discussing educational research and emerging evidence, across all school staff
  • Ensure research and evidence is embedded into the school’s CPD curriculum

What we have to offer you:

  • The chance to work in an exceptional school and an ambitious Trust

About Langley Park School for Boys

Founded in 1901 as The Beckenham Technical Institute, before transitioning into Beckenham and

Penge Grammar School and then being renamed again when it moved to its current site in Eden Park

Road, Langley Park School for Boys has a rich history of educating local boys, and more recently in

the Sixth Form Girls as well.

Situated in Beckenham in the north of Bromley, London’s largest borough, the school is a very

popular and highly oversubscribed secondary comprehensive which retains many of the traditions of

its Grammar School past. The school now has over 1700 students on role including 600+ in its coeducational

Sixth Form and maintains its long-held belief in the importance of educating the ‘whole

child’. Whilst academic outcomes continue to be well above national averages at all levels, and with

GCSE progress scores also above average for boys every year, the school also retains its focus on

wider aspects of education placing a great deal of importance on the Visual and Performing Arts,

Sport and Outdoor Education. The school’s main sports are Rugby, Hockey, Cricket and Athletics in

which it competes with weekly fixtures against other local schools throughout the year. The

Performing Arts team regularly put on fantastic musical and theatrical performances in the purpose

built 550-seater theatre built in to the school which also boasts three Dance studios, and recording

studios.

The school is heavily over-subscribed with around 900 applications each year for the 220 places

available in year 7, and around 800 applications for the 150 external places in the Sixth Form. The

school was re-built under the BSF scheme with the new buildings opening in 2012 and providing

exceptionally high-quality facilities across all subjects. The school has an active and highly successful

PTA and a very supportive parent body who support the work that the school does.

We are extremely proud of the tradition and the success of Langley Park School for Boys and you can
