Context
East Ward Community Primary School is a successful two-form entry primary school with nursery. It is a founding member of Vision Multi- Academy Trust.

We currently have 441 children on roll. The school deprivation indicator is 0.49 which places it in the 80th to 100th percentile. 40% of the children at East Ward have English as an additional language (EAL) and 50% of it’s pupils are in receipt of the pupil premium grant.

Our most recent OFSTED report (2016) noted that  ‘East Ward is a warm and inviting learning environment with polite and well mannered children who are fiercely proud of their school’.

East Ward is proud of its broad and balanced curriculum. Art, music, sports and ICT are strengths of the school and the school further develops children’s cultural and moral sense through highly effective pastoral provision. The school has been recognised for its best practice.

We achieved the Leading Parents Partnership Award and we also hold the Inclusion Quality Mark, Arts Mark, Full International Schools Accreditation and the Music Mark. The school supports all of its pupils to realise their potential, regardless of their starting points.

East Ward has high expectations of all of its pupils and children at the school do well compared to national and local standards. This is achieved first and foremost through quality first teaching. Where extra support is needed, targeted PiXL interventions are delivered by trained teachers and highly effective support staff. These staff are highly skilled and experienced. All staff in the school are enthusiastic, proactive and caring.

The leadership team comprises dynamic, enthusiastic learners who have developed robust systems in the school to monitor and support new and experienced teachers. The school has a thriving wider community and parents work closely with the school. The half-termly ‘open events, summer fairs, welcome events, art exhibitions and community projects all form part of the annual calendar of events which encourage links with parents.
