Job overview

Prosper Multi Academy Trust of which Bolton Muslim Girls’ School is a part of is looking for an  Assistant Headteacher from Spring 2022.

Bolton Muslim Girls’ school is an 11-16 Faith Academy with Islamic ethos having over 650 learners on roll. The school is a welcoming, vibrant, and successful place to learn.

Bolton Muslim Girls’ school benefits from being a single outstanding secondary school of the Prosper Multi Academy Trust; a unique Multi Academy Trust in Bolton.  The school is a highly regarded and successful non-selective maintained school which was judged to be 'Outstanding' when last inspected by Ofsted in June 2013. For its GCSE results school is placed in the top 5% of school’s nationally based on progress.

Bolton Muslim Girls’ School is always over-subscribed with first choice applications. To meet with the growing demands for places and due to the school’s popularity as an outstanding school, the school has been successful in securing a capital funding for expansion. The additional capacity has resulted in 30 additional places with effect from 2020. The school has raised its Year 7 intake from 120 to 150 from Sept 2020. The school is growing incrementally each year thereafter and hence there will be further career opportunities for staff in the future.

The Trust has a proven track record in developing staff and ensuring staff reach their full potential and career aspirations through a comprehensive programme of CPD and career progression opportunities. Staff within the Trust benefit from access to the highest quality local and national training programmes, as well as peer to peer support and professional mentoring within the Trust. There is an opportunity for the successful candidate to contribute beyond Trust wide developments.

This post is challenging and highly rewarding. The main focus of this post will be to lead on Data and Assessment. The post requires someone with substantial data and Assessment experience who understands how to engage with parents and inspire learners to raise and exceed their aspirations.

The successful candidate will enhance our Data and Assessment provisions which in turn will impact successfully on teaching and learning to enrich each child’s whole school experience.  Our learners are welcoming and friendly and educationally many come from disadvantaged backgrounds. Pupil Premium, Free School Meals, EAL and SEN numbers are below national averages.

Some of our learners have low starting points, academically.  This makes Bolton Muslim Girls’ School a highly stimulating place to work because every day we really do make a difference to children’s lives. Our destination data shows this with virtually all learners entering work, college or apprenticeships post-16. In addition, every year a significant number of our former learners gain entry to university.

A key ingredient of the school’s success has been the priority placed on creating an environment in which both learners and staff have the confidence to flourish. My personal belief is that great schools, who demonstrate continuous or sustained improvement, are built on a foundation of highly qualified and committed staff, which can only be achieved through valuing all staff and investing in their professional development.

As the Headteacher of Bolton Muslim Girls’ School I very much hope you will share my personal vision in what are exciting times ahead for both the school and the community we serve as we expand from 4 forms of entry to 5, resulting in a multi-million-pound building programme.

If you feel you can thrive in a school like ours and share our core values of: Respect, Resilience, Tolerance, Faith, Honesty, Good Manners, Kindness and Aspiration then we look forward to receiving your application and meeting you in the future.

Please ensure you complete the TES online application form fully, including:

• A full work history

• Naming two referees, one of which must be your current employer

  • a letter/statement of application must not exceed three sides of A4, This should address areas identified in the post description and person specification

N.B. With all the Covid 19 restrictions lifted, we welcome Covid 19 compliant visits to the school prior to application, however, for any queries linked to the post, you could contact the School HR via telephone or email.
