Job overview

We are a ‘popular and oversubscribed’ (Ofsted 2016), mixed, multi-ethnic 11-19 comprehensive school of 1,370 students.  We require, from September 2016, an Assistant Headteacher: Director of Sixth Form to join our ‘diverse and harmonious learning community’ (Ofsted 2016).

In 2014 we were recognised by the Minister of State for Schools as one of the top 56 performing schools in England. Value added scores are consistently high and progress measures in English, mathematics, the EBacc and best 8 GCSEs are well above national averages. Our students make excellent progress supported by teaching, learning and assessment of the highest standard. Students ‘are extremely complimentary about their school and the staff who work with them. They want to do well, regularly attend and work hard.’ (Ofsted 2016)

This exciting opportunity now exists for an ambitious and talented professional to join our successful school. Ofsted recognised that ‘there is high-quality support available for those new in post’ enabling staff to ‘quickly integrate into the school’ and acknowledged our ‘supportive ethos where staff can share best practice and continue to develop new skills’. All staff also enjoy outstanding facilities including high quality ICT provision and a personal iPad.

If you believe you have the passion, determination and high expectations to contribute to our vibrant and cohesive community, we look forward to hearing from you and we welcome visits to the school as part of the application process.

The school is committed to safeguarding children and the successful applicant will be required to apply for an enhanced disclosure from the DBS.  Further information can be found at http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/agencies-public-bodies/dbs

The school and its facilities

Brentside High School is a large 11-19 mixed comprehensive school serving a culturally and socially diverse community in Ealing.  We are all very proud of our school and the reflective learning ethos within it.

The school is popular and oversubscribed and successfully serves the needs of our local community.  Our students are complimentary about the school and also very proud to be part of our learning community.

We benefit from excellent resources.  The school building was opened in 2004 and, due to a recent expansion, an additional building opened in April 2018.  All classrooms are fitted with at least one high specification PC and interactive whiteboard or monitor.  We have an excellent sports hall, 3G Astro Turf football pitch, a state of the art Fitness Suite (available out of hours to staff!) and free car parking for 60 vehicles.  We are also well served by public transport and there are excellent cycle routes in the area
