Job overview

Assistant Headteacher (Support for Learning)
Starting September 2019 L10 – L14

Cottingham High School has fantastic students, supportive parents, passionate teachers and enormous potential: this is an exciting time to join our school. 100% of our parents would recommend our school to another parent (Parentview Jan 2019). In May 2017, Ofsted judged the school as good in all areas and the upwards trajectory of our student outcomes continues to evidence this. The class of 2018 delivered our best results ever at GCSE: 72% Basics, and P8 of 0.22 (top 30% of schools nationally). Our Post-16 outcomes placed us in the top 15% of all schools nationally with an ALPs of 3. One parent comments: ‘I cannot thank you and the other staff who've supported my son enough. I will be eternally grateful that you all saw my son’s potential, believed in him and have encouraged him to want to achieve.’ (September 2018)

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Headteacher who will be responsible for Support for Learning across the school.  This will be a very rewarding role with a key emphasis on driving progress and student attainment. The successful candidate will build on the solid foundations already in place and play a key role within the Leadership Team, leading on a strand of the School Development Plan, driving the agenda of raising achievement among SEND and disadvantaged students and leading a very talented and dedicated learning support and pastoral team.

We believe as much in potential as we do in experience and therefore this is a perfect opportunity for someone who has already demonstrated an impact at departmental level or an individual who is currently, or aspires to be a SENCO and is looking for a new challenge to grow their leadership skills even further. In return for your hard work and commitment, you can expect a motivated group of students eager to learn, staff who are committed to securing the best outcomes for all our students and a package of training and CPD to ensure you reach your career goals and aspirations.

We welcome and encourage visits to school, where you will have the opportunity to meet some of our staff, students and the Headteacher to learn a little more about our ethos, vision and journey.

Cottingham High School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. This post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Closing date for receipt of applications is 12 noon Wednesday 27 March 2019.  Interviews to be held week commencing 01 April 2019. Application forms and further details are available from the school: telephone: 01482 847498, e mail:  vacancies@cottinghamhigh.net, or on the website: www.cottinghamhigh.net
