We are looking for an innovative, committed and outward facing Assistant Headteacher to join our team. This role encompasses leading inclusion across the school as a maternity cover position. 


Although this is a maternity cover, you will have autonomy with the Headteacher to drive real change in this area across the school. This is an exciting new role which has been created, to support the headteacher in managing and leading the school as a member of the Senior Leadership Team. The successful candidate would have the opportunity to develop the role and leave their mark at the school. This is a strategic role which overseas the operation and leadership of inclusion with the aim of raising achievement of pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, disadvantaged pupils, children with English as an additional language and gifted and talented pupils.

We are looking for an individual who can share the founding vision and ethos for Preston Park, (please visit the school and look on the school’s website). They must be excited by the chance to contribute to Preston Park Primary and driven to do what it takes to succeed. They must be experienced and highly skilled in delivering of inclusion within a primary school, a team player with energy, stamina and lots of creativity and fresh ideas. We are seeking individuals who have 2 years post qualification teaching experience in a primary setting, teaching qualification/QTS and NaSENCO would be desirable. 

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:

• Successful teaching experience: modelling excellence in teaching and learning

• Successful leadership experience as a middle or senior leader with a proven track record of improving pupil outcomes

• Ability to contribute to the collection, analysis and use of data on pupil progress and performance to raise standards

• Experience of promoting the personal, social, moral, cultural and spiritual development of pupils

• Ability to support the headteacher in creating and maintaining positive behaviour, through emotion coaching and high consistent expectations

• Understanding of the factors which create barriers to learning and the ability to implement appropriate strategies for reducing inequalities and promoting social inclusion

About Preston Park Primary School

Preston Park Primary School in Wembley, north-west London, is a mixed community school for children aged 3-11. The pupil roll is over 600.   Preston Park Primary School is well resourced with rich indoor and outdoor learning environments comprising bright classrooms, spacious playgrounds, a school farm and a wildlife nature reserve.

The nursery at Preston Park has 60 part-time children. We also have a 2 year old provision on site.
