Job overview
Assistant Headteacher
L10 – L14
We are looking for an inspirational leader to join our Senior Leadership Team in September 2019.
Due to the on-going hard work and commitment of all our staff, The Malling School is increasingly becoming the first choice school for parents. As a result we are currently oversubscribed. We have robust behavioural systems and Developmental Learning Walks, rather than formal observations. All of which allow a teacher to flourish and do what they do best – teach!
The Assistant Headteacher role is one of five academic roles on our Senior Leadership Team and has responsibility for line management of departments, alongside additional SLT responsibilities.
As a Senior Leader you will have proven experience at either Middle or Senior Level within a Secondary School. You will have an innovative approach to teaching and have a real desire to change lives through teaching.
To apply for the role please complete an application form, via the TES website, with a covering letter. The covering letter should outline how your knowledge, skills and experiences meet the requirements for this role. Please remember to consider experience in previous employment and relevant experiences outside of paid work. For any queries please contact the HR Department at hr@themallingschool.kent.sch.uk .
If candidates would like to visit the school prior to applying please contact Karon Wells, PA to the Headteacher on 01732 840995 or at office@themallingschool.kent.sch.uk
Closing date: 9.00am on Monday 18 March 2019
Interviews: Tuesday 26 March 2019
The Malling School is committed to the safeguarding and promotion of welfare of all children and young people. All successful candidates will be subject to an Enhanced DBS disclosure, CV Checking Service, Occupational Health check and two satisfactory references.

About The Malling School
The Malling School
A mixed 11-19 co-educational High School of 1000 pupils serving the historic market town of West Malling and surrounding villages. The school is set in pleasant rural surroundings and has its own lake and extensive grounds. It was completely re-built in September 2007 and therefore has outstanding facilities.
West Malling is close to the county town of Maidstone and has excellent rail links to London and Ashford International (for the Continent).
This is an exciting time to be joining the staff of The Malling School.
Our school is increasingly becoming the first choice school for parents. As a result we are currently oversubscribed. We have robust behavioural systems and Developmental Learning Walks, rather than formal observations. All of which allow a teacher to flourish and do what they do best – teach!
We provide a very supportive environment in which staff can further develop their skills and we ensure every new member of staff has access to a trained coach. With close teams of teachers and non-teachers working together we take a collaborative approach to school improvement and have a shared aim of providing the very best education for our pupils.
