As the first academy of Temple Grove Schools Trust, Temple Grove Academy is committed to excellence in primary education and has high aspirations for their pupils, staff and the future. We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Headteacher for an immediate or April start.

This is a new role with a PPA teaching requirement and would suit a candidate who is a strong literacy practitioner. You will work alongside another Assistant Headteacher, Headteacher and enthusiastic SLT to support teachers in driving school improvement forward Our ideal new Assistant Headteacher will be an inspirational “Good to Outstanding” teacher who is
ready for a senior leadership role or an existing Assistant Headteacher that would relish a coaching role with a school improvement aspect. This post requires a leader who has the skills to demonstrate key leadership characteristics, a passion for literacy and the ability to act as a strong
role model and coach to less experienced staff. The ideal new Assistant Headteacher will also have the communication skills and patience to build strong and constructive relationships with parents and governors.
As a literacy specialist, your main focus will be to work alongside class teachers and raise outcomes across the school. SATs results were above national averages this year, but our focus is to now bring writing in line with maths and develop exciting writers.

We can offer:

  • A strong commitment to your professional development
  • Ark Mathematics Mastery training and resources
  • Participation in the Achievement for All project
  • CLPE’s Power of Reading resources
  • Dedicated governors and a friendly, welcoming staff

About Temple Grove Academy

Temple Grove Academy is a 1 ½ FE primary academy in Tunbridge Wells with 270 pupils.  It also benefits from having a nursery with up to 60 pupils.  The academy opened in January 2013, and is the first academy to be sponsored by the Temple Grove Academy Trust.  The academy serves the Sherwood Park community and enjoys easy access to transport links to London.

The academy has extensive grounds and has recently benefitted from £2m investment to improve the buildings, playgrounds and site security.  We have also received £70,000 in donations which has enabled the academy to develop a state of the art outside learning environment for our EYFS, a new fit for purpose ICT suite and to open a much needed after school club.

The academy receives £30,000 in enrichment funds from the trust, and funding for sports which means the pupils benefit from a wide range of extra curriculum and sporting activities, to which they are transported in the academies own minibuses.  The academy also receives funding to run a breakfast club.

There is no denying the determination and commitment shown by the academy’s leaders and its staff as they continue to develop the pupils learning with the high expectation of pace and progress, strongly supported by the local governing body and trustees.
