Job overview
Newhouse Academy – part of the Hollingworth Learning Trust – has an exciting and challenging opportunity for an Assistant Headteacher – Key Stage 3, to join our academy in September 2023.
We are looking for a great practitioner who:
- Is an innovative leader and can clearly articulate how important inclusive pastoral care is in promoting high expectations in student attendance, behaviour, attitude, learning and progress.
- Is ambitious and has the capacity to progress to Deputy and Headship level.
- Has a consistent and excellent track record of successful middle or senior leadership.
- Shares our drive towards ensuring students reach their desired, ambitious, destinations.
- Is dedicated to improving the life chances of students at Newhouse Academy and the Hollingworth Learning Trust.
- Has credible results in their subject area over time.
- Understands the importance of creating a strong, positive culture around ‘Our People’.
Newhouse Academy is a comprehensive secondary school, situated close to the M60 in the town of Heywood. We work closely with our partner school, Hollingworth Academy, (a highly reputable local secondary school); and are on a school improvement journey to deliver rising academic standards.
We have been chosen as one of 50 schools nationally to gain government funding for building development, which will see a brand new build for our Science and Technology departments in the near future.
With academy values of Aspiration, Integrity and Respect, we are embedding an ‘Our People’ culture through everything we do and our high expectations of both students and staff are bearing fruit. We are delighted to have been the best attended secondary school in the borough in 2021/22, (something we plan to emulate during this coming academic year). GCSE examination results for 2022 showed improvement across the board and the number of students achieving a 5+ in English and maths increased by 12%.
This is an exciting opportunity to make your mark at an academy that has started an improvement journey and is already making huge steps towards creating a high expectations culture.
If you have a strong character, energy, credibility and the ability to inspire; if you can motivate and challenge others to improve performance and if you’re interested in becoming one of ‘Our People’, then we’d love to hear from you.
In return, we offer:
- Membership of the Teachers’ Pension scheme
- Funded CPD for nationally recognised qualifications
- A package of health benefits
- Free use of gym facilities
- Staff activities, including a Wellbeing Café, running/cycling/walking group, ‘Cake Friday’
- Ample car parking
