Job overview

We are looking to appoint a committed professional with successful middle leadership and some whole school experience, to the role of assistant headteacher at Ealing Fields High School. Ealing Fields High School was opened as a Free School in 2016, and became part of the Twyford CE Academies Trust on 1st September 2017. Ealing Fields is the smallest of the Trust schools, with only 120 in each year group and therefore has a very compact community identity. The school now has five year groups (7-11) totalling 600 students, and the staff community, though still small, is very positive and highly motivated. The school moved to its brand new permanent site in Northfields in September 2020.

The main purpose of the post is to ensure all students achieve outstanding outcomes through effective delivery curriculum & assessment as well as pastoral and wider learning. The post is therefore an excellent opportunity for a motivated and committed professional with an intelligent interest in whole school leadership to develop as a well-rounded member of the SLT. The successful candidate will be an outstanding classroom practitioner with the experience drive to lead within a staff team committed to achieving outstanding results for all students irrespective of ability. S/he will be enthused by the prospect of maintaining a student learning culture which is engaging and aspirational. S/he will set high standards for students and staff in all aspects of school life.

This role presents a unique professional development opportunity for a candidate who already has significant expertise in leading a large curriculum area or a pastoral team which has focussed on both attainment and wellbeing. The role provides the opportunity to grow as a key member of the SLT and to develop towards deputy headship – s/he will develop as an assistant headteacher within a visionary and enterprising context, and with the support of an experienced executive team. There is opportunity for the role to develop within a two year period to one which focusses on KS4 by negotiation. The usual salary range for this role is L10-14. The school will consider candidates of exceptional ability who have less than the specified experience where there is evidence of outstanding outcomes (see person spec) salary adjustment would apply if the role were taken forward in reduced form and with additional support.

For more information about the schools please visit the Twyford Trust and Ealing Fields websites. For more information about the role please see the job description on the Twyford Trust website at: https://twyfordacademies.org.uk/job-vacancies

The successful candidate will have:

  • Outstanding skills as a classroom teacher.
  • An excellent record of as a middle leader (curriculum or pastoral.)
  • An excellent record of developmental work in current role.

  • Experience of managing or implementing pastoral systems and initiatives.
  • Experience of managing others / managing change.
  • Ability to be reflective and driven towards self-improvement.
  • Energy and enthusiasm.

We offer:
