Job overview

Following a recent opportunity to develop the school further, we are seeking an experienced, inspirational and impactful school leader for this exciting new role.

Required for September 2023 or latest January 2024; the ideal candidate will demonstrate an excellent understanding of teaching, learning and curriculum in the primary phase, a track record of developing and supporting outstanding teachers and support staff, and of implementing whole school initiatives.

Strong organisation skills, effective communication, emotional intelligence, a positive outlook and a proactive and creative approach to problem solving is critical.

Over the last year, the local authority are asking certain schools to expand their capacity in order to meet the rising needs of special placements. Our school has recently undergone 2 OFSTED visits; one giving us the ‘Good’ badge and the other to confirm that we meet all requirements to increase our capacity. With that in mind, and an extension new build barn project beginning in summer, we are tweaking our structure across our school to prepare for an increase in children, staff, and therapeutic team.

The role will be to operationally run the primary site day to day with a strategic element of innovation of the site, working with the therapeutic team and SENDCO to ensure all children’s needs are met, and a strong curriculum offer to close gaps and give them the best opportunity for their life opportunities.

This is a rare opportunity. With mental health and complex needs on the rise across the world, this is an exciting time to get on board.

The PLACE Independent School was set up to meet the needs of young people who find it difficult to achieve in mainstream environments where their emotional and developmental needs cannot be met.

We believe that no young person should be failed as a direct result of their past experiences and complex histories, and we are committed to helping them overcome adversity and provide a positive influence upon their current and future lives.

Please read the attached applicant pack which contains information about the role, the school, and the opportunity.
