Safeguarding Notice

St. Anne’s R.C. High School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all our students and young people, and expect all staff and volunteers to share and uphold this commitment. We operate a stringent safer recruitment process to keep all our stakeholders safe.

Post Title: Assistant Headteacher Personal Development Behaviour and Welfare

Permanent post required from 1st January 2020

Salary/Grade: Leadership Range L10-14

‘Leaders, managers and governors are ambitious for the school. Their capacity for further improvement is demonstrated by the improvement in teaching, outcomes, behaviour and leadership’ Ofsted November 2017

Ofsted judged St. Anne’s R.C. High School ‘Requires Improvement’ in November 2017 removing it from three years in Special Measures. We are satisfied with the report and feel it is an accurate account of where the school is overall. However, the same judgement of RI was given to PDBW in 2014. We now need an ambitious, experienced and passionate professional to join us on our journey to ‘Good’ and better. The position commences on 1st January 2020.

The Governors and Headteacher are seeking a well-qualified, innovative and inspiring Assistant Headteacher to take a strategic role in promoting the school’s educational aims and ethos. The role offers the right candidate an excellent opportunity to help shape the academic thinking and practice of this rapidly improving, caring school.

It will require the skills of a dynamic and inspirational leader who can engage and motivate students and staff alike. St. Anne’s RC High School can offer the right candidate a well resourced environment, an excellent reputation for its specialism and a calm and positive atmosphere.

Assistant Headteachers work closely with the Deputy Headteachers and the Headteacher to provide professional leadership and management of the school, securing its success and continued improvement, ensuring high quality education for all of its students and improving standards of learning and achievement.

This post offers an ambitious professional the chance to lead the areas of personal development behaviour welfare, and crucially improving attendance, to help St. Anne’s RC High School achieve further success as it moves to Good and beyond.

Application forms, Job description and Person Specification can be obtained from Mrs Sue Swire: 0161 432 8162 option 6, sue.swire@st-annes.stockport.sch.uk

Please submit a letter of no more than two sides of A4 at 11pt Arial outlining your skills and experience covering the person specification requirements and how you will help take St. Anne’s to Good at its next Ofsted Section 5 inspection in November 2019.

Closing date: Friday 18th October 2019 (10.00am)

Interviews: Monday/Tuesday 28th/29th October 2019

St Anne’s RC was designated as a Media Arts Specialist School in the summer of 2009. The departments that lead our Specialism are Art, Drama and ICT.

As an Arts college, we aim to raise standards of achievement and the quality of learning in all our Media subjects, for all students, leading to whole school improvement in performance.

We endeavour to nurture in our students, a lifelong passion for, and appreciation of, the arts as both participants and discriminating audiences.

As an Arts college we look for new ways to enhance the learning experience, with an understanding that our Specialism can improve learning in other curriculum areas. Where appropriate our students visit galleries, theatres and others sites of interest. We will enable our students to work in school with professionals involved in the arts and creative industries and to enjoy artistic experiences inside and outside the classroom.

We continue to develop our partnerships with local primary schools, businesses and our wider community.

Here at St Anne’s RC, we try to maximise the opportunities for young people to achieve in the arts and gain access to employment, further training and higher education in the arts. We will continue to unlock the potential of technology and promote a culture of innovation in our school. We aim to ensure that every child achieves and is positioned for success in life.
