Assistant Headteacher: Post-16 Learning

 L12 - L16 (Outer London pay range)

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding classroom teacher with a proven track record of leadership at middle management and a clear vision for post-16 learning in the comprehensive sector to join our Senior Leadership Team in September 2017.

The sixth form at Overton Grange School was graded ‘Good in all respects’ by Ofsted in 2016 and is a vital ingredient in the current success of this oversubscribed coeducational school. The post-16 curriculum is largely A Level based but with very successful BTEC courses at Level 2 and Level 3. “Outcomes in the sixth form are above average for A Level and vocational subjects” (Ofsted 2016). The post-16 sector in Sutton is a competitive one and we are looking to expand our student numbers over the next few years.  “Personal development and welfare in the sixth form are strong.  Learners talk enthusiastically of their opportunities to learn through enrichment activities” (Ofsted 2016).'

This key post will allow the successful candidate to contribute to our vision not just at post-16 level but also by fully participating in the senior leadership of the school.

The successful candidate will:

1. be an outstanding teacher;

2. have evidence of leadership skills that motivate and inspire staff;

3. be able to demonstrate how s/he has raised student achievement in their current post;

4. have excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
