We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, dynamic, and inspirational Assistant Headteacher to lead our academy ethos and values of Care, Aspire, and Succeed through developing and ensuring high standards of performance, assessment, and progress across KS3 along with the successful delivery of the personal development and wellbeing agenda.

Working in conjunction with the Senior Leadership Team, the Assistant Headteacher - Quality of Education (KS3) and Personal Development will take primary responsibility for:

§ Development and coordination of whole school strategies to raise achievement at KS3.  

§ Tracking and monitoring student progress at KS3, identifying key groups to target and ensuring necessary interventions are put in place which have a positive impact on student progress.

§ Lead the analysis of performance data at KS3, providing summary data in relation to pupil performance and performance of groups to a variety of audiences.

§ Supporting department leaders in development and delivery of curriculum intent.

§ Leading, managing and developing the personal development and wellbeing agenda including SMSC, PSHE, RSE, and Careers education ensuring pupils benefit from cultural development, wellbeing and enrichment.

§ To inspire and motivate students to achieve educational success and ensure outstanding outcomes for all students at Crofton Academy.


Your application will need to demonstrate that you are/have:

§ Substantial middle or senior leadership experience in a secondary environment with strong evidence of success and impact.

§ Experience of leadership of a whole academy initiatives.

§ Ability to monitor and evaluate the work of subject leadership at KS3, including direction of the work of subject leaders/KS3 Coordinators in their use of assessment, reporting and recording in order to raise standards of achievement.

§ An ability to analyse and evaluate assessment and data.

§ An understanding of best practice and experience of planning effective curriculum programmes to improve personal development, FBV, SMSC, pupil wellbeing and mental health.

§ The ability to motivate, inspiring confidence in students that they can succeed and achieve their personal best.

§ An ability to manage conflict and think creatively to solve problems.

§ A deep knowledge and clear understanding of educational legislation, innovation and developments.

§ An ability to use the full range of leadership skills and qualities including emotional intelligence as appropriate to the situation.

§ A personal commitment to inclusion and diversity to ensure the maximum benefits for students and staff.

§ An enthusiastic leader, committed to ensuring the best possible outcomes for all students.

§ Someone who can provide clear direction and shared purpose for all students, staff and stakeholders.

§ A strong commitment to personal development for all staff including yourself.


You will also need to be:

§ Supportive of the Academy’s ethos and values at all times both within the Academy and the wider community.

§ Committed to inspiring pupils and staff in the development initiatives and strategies, promoting whole academy improvement.               

§ An excellent communicator who is at ease with all stakeholders but particularly students and parents.

§ Able to demonstrate an ability to be resilient and determined whilst also providing support, demonstrating empathy when dealing with staff in a sensitive and considerate manner.

 

Crofton Academy joined Castleford Academy Trust in 2020 and has since been on a rapid improvement journey supported by the leaders of the ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted rated Castleford Academy. Since joining the Trust leaders and staff have ambitiously worked towards improving the quality of education for pupils at the Academy and have responded positively to change. Extra capacity within the senior leadership team has been secured and the school improvement plan has been sharply focused on the right priorities. At the last monitoring visit, Ofsted commented “Steps have been taken to improve behaviour and attendance and to develop the quality of the curriculum”, therefore this is a very exciting time to join us in our journey to becoming an outstanding provider.
