Job overview

Applications are welcome from experienced or aspiring school leaders for a position starting in September 2024.

We are seeking the right candidate to join the team, which will lead the school community into its brand-new school building.

Our most recent OFSTED inspection stated: “The leadership of SEND is a strength of the school. Funding for this aspect of the school’s work is used effectively. Pupils with SEND are well supported and make strong progress from their starting points.” The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate how they will build on this success, lead our SEN department and support outstanding progress for our SEN learners. The wider Assistant Headteacher role will be determined at interview. The school would also welcome applications from those who would like to be considered for an Extended Leadership Team role, which would also encompass the SENCO responsibility within it.

Applications are welcome from teachers of all faiths and none; and this is reflected in our current staff composition.

As a leader you will enthuse staff and students across the school to achieve their potential. High quality teaching and learning is at the core of the school’s work and is driven by all members of the senior team; the successful candidate will support this and deliver on a range of specific responsibilities.

We are looking for a candidate who is:

· An exceptional leader, with experience of securing outstanding outcomes for students;

· An outstanding classroom practitioner, and role model for all stakeholders;

· A committed team-player with experience of having led and managed successful teams;

· Committed to the education of the whole child and to equal opportunities for all.

Our 2023 GCSE examination results were the best in the school’s history with results in English and Maths in the top 10% and 15% nationally. Our sixth form received the school’s first set of A Level results in August 2022 which were extremely pleasing, with many students earning places at top universities.

Students at St Andrew appreciate being taught well and enjoy their learning. They expect high standards and like to be challenged and stretched in the classroom. They participate well and enjoy taking responsibility across the school.

We are determined to appoint a candidate who will fit well with our staff body and one who will promote the whole school ethos. Our ambition is to achieve an outstanding Ofsted rating but beyond that to make our school a wonderful day-to-day experience for our students and staff. If you are confident that you can rise to these challenges then visit our website www.standrewtheapostle.org.uk and look over the relevant job specification and further details along with the attached promotional document.

If you would like to apply, please send a completed application form and equalities form to vacancies@standrewtheapostle.org.uk Potential candidates can contact the school for a telephone conversation with the Headteacher, Dr Philip Hills.

Closing date for applications: 9am Tuesday 16 April 2024 and successful candidates will be called to interview soon after this date.
