Job overview

Welcome to KEVIGS

King Edward VI Grammar School (KEVIGS) is an 11-18 school in Louth, Lincolnshire with approximately 960 students on roll. Our ethos is to provide our students with a holistic, academic education that builds a strong foundation for life beyond school.

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our Senior Leadership Team at KEVIGS as Assistant Headteacher with the principal responsibility of heading the Sixth Form.

The majority of our Year 11 students stay on to study A-levels here with us at King Edward's, but at the same time we also welcome a large number of students from other schools. With a separate Sixth Form centre and close to 200 students in the Sixth Form at King Edward’s we are able to offer students a comprehensive package of care, support, from our dedicated Sixth Form team of pastoral carers; learning mentors, and experienced Head of Sixth Form. Our links with universities and our extensive links with them and employers ensures that close to 100% of our students are in education or employment after leaving King Edward’s. Our students move into the full range of higher education and careers.

All students at King Edward’s follow a mandatory curriculum of three A-levels plus the AQA Extended Research Qualification which is intended to equip students with the skills and qualities required for their chosen Post-18 pathway.   Some of our very able students may be approved to take four A-levels plus the AQA Extended Research Qualification.

Our Sixth Form should not only ensure academic success but endeavour to support personal development of our students to prepare them for life beyond school.

The position would ideally suit either an ambitious Head of Department seeking their first Leadership Team position or an established whole school leader seeking a new challenge. The successful candidate would need to demonstrate that they are an outstanding teacher with sixth-form teaching experience be expected to teach approximately 50% of a timetable.   Candidates would ideally have PE / Music / Chemistry / Spanish as their first or second subject specialism.

Full details and the job description are attached.
