Assistant Headteacher

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE POST:

 This is a senior post within the school staffing structure and carries with it a line management responsibility. The description is based on applicants meeting the standards for post threshold teachers and having begun to develop aspects of the key areas of leadership (based on the professional standards for teachers and Headteachers).

 The post is in addition to those professional responsibilities, which are common to all pre and post threshold class teachers and is in accordance with the current STPCD and other current legislation. The successful candidate will be able to respond to a continually changing educational environment and work with the Parallel Learning Trust's strategic and operational plan to build strong partnership agreements in order to demonstrate excellence of inclusive practice.

You will need to provide professional leadership and management of Teaching & Learning across the school in order to raise standards of student attainment and achievement across the school by:  

• establishing systems for Quality Assurance (through Team Reviews) to inform the School Development Plan and Ofsted Action Plan and to establish a positive culture of self-review and improvement  
• leading innovation and development of Teaching & Learning through ICT and other new technologies and research  
• developing and enhancing the teaching practice of others through coaching We offer excellent CPD and an extensive induction programme. This post would be suitable for experienced practitioners wanting to commit to the challenge of working to attain the highest possible achievement with challenging students. The Assistant Headteacher will have some contact time which is planned to include PHSE, Literacy intervention and PPA cover. Dedicated leadership time will be provided.
