Assistant Headteacher

Alderwood PRU is an established part of Suffolk County Council's provision for children and young people experiencing social, emotional and behavioural difficulties that put them at risk of exclusion from their mainstream schools. It is one of a number of pupil referral units and AP academies across the county that support children throughout compulsory mainstream education. It currently provides two closely interrelated services: the Pupil Referral Unit and the Bridge Group. Alderwood works with pupils in Key Stages 2 and 3, their parents / carers, their schools, and staff supporting them through other significant agencies.

Following a restructure of the Leadership Team in response to the changing needs of the unit, the Management Committee are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and inspirational Assistant Headteacher who will assist in driving the school forward building upon its many strengths.

Our most recent Ofsted inspection (October 2016) had a 'Good' outcome. We wish to build on this further, with exceptional leadership, management and development within teaching and learning, personal development behaviour and welfare to become an 'Outstanding' provision.

The management committee are looking for applications from candidates with:

• a commitment to ensuring that all children / young people achieve their potential
• the ability to promote an inclusive school
• the ability to support the raising of standards across the school
• the ability to be a supportive and innovative member of the Senior Leadership Team
• the ability to develop partnerships that enhance the experience for all 
• the ability to teach KS3 science or maths would be an advantage.
