Job overview

Thank you for your interest in our role at The Chalet School.

We are looking to appoint an Assistant Headteacher who instantly connects with and will be committed to the school’s motto of Dream. Believe, Achieve for every pupil in our care.

Candidates must have a proven track record of delivering high quality teaching in SEND education (preferably primary age range) alongside effectively leading and managing others beyond their own class.

The school has made tremendous progress against the areas that require improvement identified at the last Ofsted inspection in April 2017, so we are keen to find the right person who will complement the strengths of the existing leadership team and enable us to effectively demonstrate that the school is rated Good and striving for Outstanding.

We are also preparing for further expansion from 63 to 72 children and young people, which means this is the perfect time to join our Senior Leadership Team and make a positive difference to the lives of SEND pupils and their families in Swindon.

We are very proud of the curriculum on offer at the school which is ASD-centred and has a strong emphasis on developing independence skills and learning outside of the classroom (LOtC). We want to give our children unique learning opportunities that lead to significantly improved life chances and outcomes in life, to learn and develop the necessary life skills to take care of themselves, others and the world they live in.

The school belongs to the Brunel Special Educational Needs Multi-Academy Trust (BSM), so the successful applicant will benefit from the collaborative and collegiate opportunities that this partnership has to offer.

If you share our ethos to develop a school culture founded on a fusion of the BSM and The Chalet School mantras respectively, ‘No barriers, only potential’ and ‘People Care, Earth Care and Fair Share’ then we would like to hear from you.

Closing date: Noon Monday 15th February
