Steyning Grammar School is a unique comprehensive school, with 2250 students on roll (450 are in the Sixth Form College), set in the beautiful South Downs countryside, close to Brighton, Worthing and Horsham.  The campus spreads across three sites: Shooting Field, Steyning (KS4-5), Church Street, Steyning (KS3) and Rock Road, Storrington (KS3). We are a day and residential school, with an Outstanding boarding provision based at the Church Street campus and a thriving Sixth Form College based at the Shooting Field campus.

We are delighted that you are interested in applying to SGS. Our Leadership Team is skills based and we are looking for leadership potential and capacity in applicants to this post, rather than specific experience.  The role for this Assistant Headship will include supporting one of Key Stage 3 to 5, reporting to the Deputy Head for that Key Stage. There will also be KS3-5 whole school strategic responsibilities; these could include, for example, Teaching and Learning, Data and Assessment, CPD, Standards and Accountability or Stakeholder Voice - specific responsibilities for this post will be agreed after appointment, informed by our development plans.

Steyning Grammar School is a mixed, Church of England day and boarding secondary school with sixth form situated in Steyning, West Sussex.  It is the newest member of the Bohunt Education Trust family.  There are approximately 2251 students at the school between the ages of 11-18.

Steyning Grammar School was founded in 1614 after a former Mayor of Chichester, William Holland left funds in his will for a free grammar school to be open. Steyning Grammar School was formed in its current state in 1968, when it merged with a local secondary school.
