Job overview

Do you have a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for students on the autistic spectrum? Do you want to make a difference to the lives of young people and ensure they are ready to contribute to society?

Heathermount School provides an all-round education to meet the needs of students from the ages of 4-19 who have SEND with a primary diagnosis of Autism. Heathermount is a day school owned by Cavendish education; we are well resourced and have excellent facilities set on our 14 acres site. Classes are small (8) and staff training is comprehensive. We work hard with our students and parents, but the rewards are tremendous if you are motivated by improving the life chances of young people and to have a positive impact on family life.

Heathermount School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service checks along with other relevant employment checks.

Please do not hesitate to call the school for an informal chat or come and visit us and meet our inspiring, wonderful young people and our hard working, talented staff. We welcome interest from colleagues from both mainstream and special or alternative provisions.

Interested candidates should call Dave Stewart, Headteacher, on 01344 875101 for an informal discussion about the role.

Candidates are strongly encouraged to visit the school. To arrange a visit, you should contact Julie-Ann Stone on 01344 875101.

Candidates will be considered as and when suitable applications are received.

Building confidence & preparing students for life

We are an Independent sepecial school specialising in a broad and balanced education for children and young people aged between 5 and 18 years old with Autistic Spectrum Conditions.  We are a well resourced day school with excellent facilities.  Located within 14 acres of beautiful grounds in Ascot we make good use of our setting to improve students' well-being.  It is a calming environment to help manage anxieties.  Our class sizes are small (max 8 in Secondary).  Students follow a range of pathways, according to their individual needs and take qualifications ranging from ASDAN and Functional Skills through to Level 2 NVQ/BTEC and GCSEs.  Both core and vocational courses are available and students enjoy the opportunity to study business administration, catering and horticulture alongside more traditional subjects.

In summer 2021 we proudly achieved the highly regarded Advanced Autism Accreditation status as well as the Leading Parent Partnership Award (LPPA) and Wellbeing Award for Schools (WAS).  Our last Ofsted Report in February 2019 concluded that we are a good school with the potential to become outstanding in the near future and this is very much a focus for the whole staff.

Heathermount School is part of the Cavendish Education Group.
