Thanks to our growth in student numbers and in response to increased need, we are seeking to appoint an innovative and highly strategic Assistant Headteacher to join our dynamic and committed Senior Leadership Team with specific responsibility for Inclusion and Intervention. The role would suit an existing Senior Leader seeking a new challenge or an experienced Middle Leader looking to make the step up into Senior Leadership. The successful candidate would be a qualified SENCO and will be responsible for leading on the SEND provision and alternative provision across the school and line managing our current SENCO.
First and foremost, we are looking for an outstanding classroom practitioner who has an excellent track record of improving academic standards and pupil outcomes, as well as having a clear focus on pastoral care and safeguarding. You must be willing to undergo training to help you develop into an exceptional Senior Leader.
The successful applicant will have the following qualities:

Job Purpose
- To maintain a strategic oversight of SEND, EAL, Looked After Children, Mental Health and Medical needs throughout the School, including policy writing, staff training and liaison with parents/carers and external agencies
- To lead the development and implementation of our on-site alternative curriculum provision “Succeed Centre”
- To lead, develop and support the SENCO to fulfil all statutory duties related to the SENCO role as set out in the SEN Code of Practice
- Where the need arises, to fulfil the statutory duties related to the SENCO role as set out in the SEN Code of Practice
- To support the SENCO in leading the Den provision including the IIP/TA staff
- To support the development across the School of the most effective teaching approaches and learning strategies for students with SEND, EAL, Looked After Children and students with additional needs
- To lead the coordination and delivery of exam access arrangements
- To monitor and evaluate the impact of appropriate strategies to ensure early intervention of students with SEND, EAL, Looked After Children and children with additional/medical needs
- To monitor the impact of teaching and learning activities on the progress made by students with SEND, EAL Looked After Children and students with additional/medical needs
- To maintain a network of colleagues/professionals in other schools/community to ensure continuity of support and learning when transferring students with SEND,EAL, Looked After Children and students with additional/medical needs
- To contribute to the Spotlight Strategy group which develops high achieving classrooms to support and foster the achievement of students with SEND,EAL, Looked After Children, Pupil Premium and students with additional/medical needs
- To lead and support the SENCO to develop and enhance the practice of other members of staff in the Inclusion team
- To provide and lead training for all staff in supporting students with SEND, EAL, Looked After Children and students with additional/medical needs
- To contribute to curriculum development across the school to ensure it meets the needs of students with SEND, EAL, Looked After Children and students with additional/medical needs
- To be the Designated Teacher for Children Looked After
