Job overview

 The Governors and Principal at Plympton Academy are seeking to appoint a talented, ambitious and exceptional Assistant Principal to be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team. Overall responsibility/accountability for achievement of specific groups within the academy and external indicators coordination. Organisation of the delivery of the associated area or accountability in the academy. To contribute to the development and maintenance of whole academy strategy, policies and ethos. To assume strategic management and operational responsibility for any areas directed to by the Principal, as appropriate.

This post will ideally suit an individual who has operated as a Middle Leader and has aspirations in leadership. Working alongside the Principal, the successful applicant will be able to have direct impact on realising the vision of the Academy and securing an ‘outstanding’ status. You will be creative, an outstanding classroom practitioner, innovative and capable of providing inspirational leadership. You will be committed to the highest achievement for all and be a resourceful and enthusiastic educationalist. 

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a proven track record of raising academic standards; 
  • Be able to work in partnership with the Principal, the Senior Leadership Team and Middle Leaders, to provide strategic direction and leadership;
  • Have excellent managerial and leadership skills;
  • Be a strong communicator at all levels;
  • Be able to work with others, providing appropriate support and challenge to secure outstanding behaviour, commitment to learning and safeguarding; and
  • Have demonstrable experience of leading innovation, change and improvement.
