Job overview

Information about AIM North London

AIM Academies Trust is a small trust in North London. We are a family of three schools including two secondary schools; AIM North London and London Academy and our primary school, Deansbrook.

AIM North London is an 11-19 mixed, multi-cultural comprehensive school in North London. We have just over 600 students, with over 50 languages spoken throughout the Academy and a significant proportion of students eligible for the pupil premium. AIM North London has been a part of the AIM Trust since 2019 and the school has been on an incredible journey over the last four years. We are delighted that our first set of published GCSE outcomes in the Summer of 2022 make us the most improved school in Enfield. We are excited for you to join us on our journey.

The Opportunity

We are looking to recruit an Assistant Principal who is driven, solutions focussed and a brilliant classroom practitioner. Candidates should have excellent relationships with students and families and a track record of improving areas that they have been responsible for. Roles in our leadership team rotate on an annual basis so the specific area of responsibility will be decided on appointment. In this role, you will be line managed by one of our two Deputy Principals but will also have opportunity to work closely with our Principal - Clare Darley; Director of Academies – Carly Mitchell and Executive Principal - Paddy McGrath

Why work at AIM North London?

Our mission is to develop the leadership potential of both our students and staff. We want to be at the forefront of developing the next generation of national school leaders. We offer exceptional professional development opportunities including weekly coaching (our coaching program is led by the founder of Steplab, Josh Goodrich), weekly line management and a range of external opportunities such as the NPQSL. We are also proud to have been one of the first partner schools working with The Institute for Teaching on the Masters in Expert Teaching and have a close relationship with the Ambition School Leadership Program.

We have a commitment to engage in the latest educational research and this informs all aspects of the Academy, everything from curriculum design to our behaviour systems and finally, we have a focus on reducing workload by having centralised behaviour systems, and a reasonable assessment and feedback policy.
