Assistant Principal English

Appleton Academy is an all through learning environment for pupils from nursery through to secondary and our building provides a wonderful environment for lifelong learning, in South Bradford.

Our English department is young, dynamic and increasingly outstanding.  Following the promotion of the current leader, the Academy is interested in receiving applications from candidates who can continue to drive improvements, develop further subject leaders and secure outstanding outcomes.

The successful applicant will be part of a team leading the development of the curriculum across the Academy, working with primary colleagues in strengthening the primary to secondary continuum of learning and maximising opportunities to consolidate learning across the secondary subject areas such as English and History.

We are looking for a creative and inspirational individual to join the Academy.   We require an experienced practitioner who can lead a wide ranging team of professionals working with students and parents to ensure each one achieves the best possible outcomes. The successful candidate will be an individual with the ability to motivate, lead and inspire both students and staff and who will be part of the school senior leadership team with a salary paid on the leadership pay scale to reflect the importance of this key role.

• Be able to evidence that they are an outstanding secondary age classroom practitioner

In September 2017 we joined the Exceed Academies Trust.  The Trust recognises its moral purpose to support schools and academies across the city and the region and this has underpinned the accreditation and development of two Teaching Schools that jointly lead the alliance of partner schools and academies.  As Exceed Academies Trust develops a Secondary SCITT, there may be opportunities for Assistant Principals to work with the Teaching School in a wider context
