Job overview

The Role

You will be dedicated, enthusiastic, and motivated to achieve outstanding outcomes for our young people. You will join an academy that is committed to allowing teachers to teach in a disruption free learning environment and with the full support of an academy leadership team committed, to your professional development. You will use your motivation to lead a team of highly skilled practitioners with a range of experiences and expertise, all committed to the education of our students. We consider our English team to be the ‘best in Portsmouth’ and we are confident you will enjoy leading this amazing group.

To be a senior leader at our academy you must have a sense of humour, excellent subject knowledge, be ambitious for the team and have a proven track record of raising attainment and smashing targets out of the park.

If you are conscientious, a dedicated team player, able to relate to staff and students, have a desire to work in a disruption free learning environment and are passionate about making a difference, we want to hear from you.

The successful applicant will also have the opportunity to work closely with our Academy sponsor and English subject advisor across the South.

About You

Are you the super hero we are looking for?

Castle View is a rapidly improving (12 -16) academy based on the edge of Portsmouth, serving the community of Paulsgrove. Having relocated to a brand-new building on the 1st December 2017 the school joined the United Learning group, the largest multi academy trust in the UK, on the 1st March 2018.

In the summer of 2019 we recorded year on year, record-breaking examination results, with 63% of students achieving 4+ and 45% 5+ in English. We know this is not good enough for our community and we are now seeking a ‘super hero’ with a proven record of raising outcomes and having significant impact, to join our team.

United Learning

Castle View Academy is part of United Learning, a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England.

Our schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. Our subject specialists, our Group-wide intranet, our own curriculum and our online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resource, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance.

As a Group, we can reward our staff better: with good career opportunities, better pay, benefits, and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. We invest in our staff wellbeing. Our academies each have at least eight INSET days per year (with three of those solely dedicated to planning), and an ongoing group-wide wellbeing programme. It's an ethos we call ‘the best in everyone’.
