Job Title:                   Assistant Principal 

Grade:                      Leadership 5 – 9 (£46,566 - £51,402)

Accountable to:      Principal

The holder of this post is expected to carry out the professional duties of an Assistant Principal and play a major role under the overall direction of the Principal. The holder will work with the Senior Leadership Team on the strategic management of identified areas, with a particular focus on further strengthening the positive climate for learning to ensure the growth and success of the Academy. 

Role and Responsibilities: 

• To lead by example, working in partnership with the staff team to safeguard our young people at all times 

• To assist the Principal in the daily running of the school as required

• To lead assigned areas of the school development plan

• To take a lead role in ensuring there are high standards around the Academy at all times

• To assist in developing and maintaining a broad and balanced curriculum that will equip the pupils with skills for life and enable them to achieve to their highest potential

• To take a leading role in the monitoring of the curriculum, assessment and pupil progress data

• To ensure that any data relevant to responsibilities is checked for accuracy and carefully analysed before actions are put in place, and that all actions are carefully monitored to evaluate the impact

• To support the Academy with all key events, including Open Evenings

• To respond to parental queries and complaints as directed by the Principal

• To line manage staff at the discretion of the Principal

• To challenge underperformance within your area, and to take a role in supporting underperforming staff, as required by the Principal

• To report to the Principal and Local Accountability Board on areas of responsibility as required.
