Job overview
We are looking to appoint an experienced interim Assistant Principal to join our Academy on a Maternity Cover Contract.
We are interested to hear from experienced teachers and middle leaders who share our academy vision and ethos, and who can start immediately on 9 - 10 month maternity cover fixed term contract. As one of our Assistant Principals you will have an academy wide area of responsibility, this will be determined based on the successful applicant, and the role will also involve some class based teaching. If you are a qualified teacher who is an aspiring senior leader looking to gain first time experience as an Assistant Principal, then this could be a great opportunity for you to join a supportive, friendly and experienced academy senior leadership team.
What we are looking for
We are interested to hear from both experienced interim Assistant Principals looking for the next challenge, as well qualified teachers with middle leadership experience who might be looking for a return to work. This is a full-time MAT cover leadership post and we can offer flexibility as to responsibilities and year group(s) you would teach based on previous background, skills and experience. We look for talented individuals who want to be a part of transforming education in London, and helping create exceptional places of learning.
Work with senior leaders to establish and embed the vision and ethos of a fantastic academy

Make a difference to the lives of our students through excellent subject knowledge and pastoral care so that the highest standards of learning and behaviour are maintained
An experienced primary practitioner - EYFS, KS1 or KS2
QTS (or equivalent) and an undergraduate degree
Experience of managing a team of staff

Harris Primary Academy Merton is a primary academy for local children aged three to eleven which opened in September 2014. Although we are a new Academy, we are building on the Harris Federation’s proven track record in the borough: the two Harris Secondary Academies here are happy, successful and highly oversubscribed.
Our belief is that children thrive when they are consistently happy and safe at school and that through expert teaching and support all pupils can achieve to a high standard.
We have around 500 lively young minds at Harris Primary Academy Merton. Our staff support each child to be the best they can.
