We are seeking to appoint, from January 2017, an enthusiastic and visionary leader for our team of dedicated Maths teachers. The successful candidate will benefit from the support of a very capable second in department who can lead on upper school Maths, and a Vice Principal line manager who is a Maths specialist. The AP (Maths) post-holder will need, at least initially, to lead on KS3 Maths and numeracy across the curriculum within the school, and will also work with colleagues from the feeder primary schools to improve the quality of Maths teaching across the cluster. Support with this may include the opportunity to complete the MaST programme, which can count towards an MA in Education, subject to the candidate’s availability.

You will be joining the school at an exciting time as examination results across the whole school at both A level and GCSE have seen rapid improvement and the school is expanding. 70% achieved grade 4+ in both Maths and Englisn in 2017 and our estimated Progress 8 score is +0.38. At A level the proportion achieving AAB or better was 19%.

Prince William School is located in Oundle, within easy commuting distance of Peterborough, Stamford, Huntingdon, Wellingborough, and Corby. It is a vibrant and friendly school with enthusiastic, well-behaved students who are eager to achieve the best they can, and colleagues who are keen to work together as a team and share best practice. We strive to deliver the challenging and inspirational curriculum our students need to prepare them for the ever changing world they will find themselves in. We have high expectations for all, and our aim is simple: to be the best school in Northamptonshire and beyond for every student, no matter what their ability or aspirations.

Prince William School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidates will be subject to references and DBS check.

Welcome to Prince William School. We are passionate about learning and providing a wide range of experiences for our young people to prepare them for the world beyond school. Our vision is to create an innovative learning environment which has all staff and students learning, developing and delivers the highest of expectations from ourselves and from each other.

At Prince William School we focus upon success. Success for learning. Success in competition. Success in our personal aims. This focus means that we achieve success in many areas including: school results, Duke of Edinburgh Awards, nationally recognised musicians, winning district, county and national sporting events and through being frequent competitors in activities such as the Economics literary papers judged at Eton, and the East Northants “Dragons Den” Competition. We also learn that although we aim to succeed, there are times when we might not. The key is to dust ourselves off and tackle the next challenge with the aim of succeeding next time.

We encourage our young people to ‘Learning for Life’ through the setting of aspirational targets, recognising success in its many guises, through celebrations and in developing and promoting student leadership to encourage future students to do even better.

Our excellent year teams link the need to support young people through any difficulties and challenges in order to overcome barriers to learning and ensure the core purpose of learning and achievement is not forgotten.
