We are looking for a talented teaching practitioner and experienced senior, or middle, leader to join our academy as our new Assistant Principal for Mathematics. If you are a qualified maths teacher and aspiring senior leader looking for promotion into your first Assistant Principal post, or if you are an experienced Assistant Principal looking to join a thriving academy, then we can offer you a supportive academy within a highly successful MAT. Your opportunity

This is an exciting leadership position which would suit a highly motivated middle leader seeking an SLT post within supportive, friendly and highly experienced academy team. You will have a wealth of opportunities to develop as a leader with the Harris Federation and we can offer you a range of bespoke courses and qualifications through our Teaching School, including our Aspiring Leaders NPQH for aspiring principals.

As Assistant Principal your job purpose will be:

  • As a senior leader, to assist the Principal in the strategic and operational management, development and leadership of the Academy, and ensure the achievement of our ethos, aims and objectives within the context of the Academy’s strategic and development plans.
  • To be in charge of a range of responsibilities within the Academy and to develop, maintain and operate appropriate systems for quality assurance in all aspects of our operations.

What we are looking for

  • Extensive teaching experience, and evidence of outstanding teaching practice
  • Previous teaching experience in mathematics, ideally at both GCSE and A-Level
  • Successful management experience as Head of Department or member of the SLT
  • An ambitious and hardworking attitude, with a commitment to the wider community 
  • The ability to motivate and lead students and staff
  • A passion for education
  • A flair for working with young people
  • A great team player who will fit well with our optimistic and positive culture
