Job overview

We are seeking to appoint an experienced and well-qualified Assistant Principal (SEND) with energy, integrity and commitment to our vision and Christian ethos. You will be a gifted teacher, an inspirational leader and have the expertise to make a rapid impact. As Assistant Principal (SEND), you will ensure the highest standards of care and aspiration for students at the Academy with SEND. With a track record of achieving excellence, you will also be an outstanding classroom practitioner in your specialist subject.

Being an exceptional setting for integrated provision in a mainstream school, we are one of Middlesbrough Local Authority’s specialised Bases for students with a Higher Learning Need, indicated by the Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP). We also offer a sub-regional Resourced Provision for students with a range of Hearing and Visual Impairments, including those who use British Sign Language as their first language and Braille users. We are committed to developing and investing in the use of the latest assistive technology to enhance students’ integration in the Academy community, their independence as learners, and to help prepare for life after school.

With a budget exceeding £1m to support 82 student places across the three ‘bases’, along with over 100 students in mainstream SEN, this is a rare and significant senior leadership opportunity for an outstanding professional. We encourage interested candidates to arrange a preliminary visit or telephone discussion with the Principal.
