Job Purpose

To ensure all students are fully supported throughout their time at The Hammond, and to work alongside parents/ carers, teaching and support staff to create an environment conducive to learning and growth.

Job Responsibilities

To support and report into the Vice Principal (Director of Student Support) and Director of Higher Education.

To oversee duties as Deputy DSL, including the creation and updating of policies and procedures. 

To oversee and lead on all pastoral and well being issues in the college and higher education division.

To oversee and lead on all behaviour issues in the college and higher education. 

To work with Form Tutors and Personal Academic Tutors to ensure all students are supported and nurtured.

To deliver tutorials, assemblies and briefings to students in the college.

To act as Pastoral Leader for college and higher education students, liaising with parents and agencies as needed.

To create, develop, and deliver RSE PSHE materials and lessons to school and college students. 

To plan and lead whole-school PSHE drop-down days.

To liaise with performance and academic staff to ensure student progress.

To lead college and degree accommodation, making links with providers, and providing support for students and parents.

To oversee attendance, punctuality, and professionalism of students. 

To liaise with the Industry Co-ordinator and Graduate Development Co-ordinator to ensure students in their final year are prepared for professional work.

To contribute to other pastoral areas of the school where needed.

To present and report to the leadership team as needed, and to attend leadership team meetings. 

To take on other whole-school leadership responsibilities relevant to the role including, but not limited to, delivering assemblies, presenting at staff briefing, providing information to parents/ stakeholders, attending PTFA meetings. 

Be a dynamic and inspirational teacher who is able to engage students in a love of learning, planning and delivering well-structured lessons.
