The new Assistant Principal will have resilience and drive and a proven track record of delivering strong educational outcomes. Working together with the Principal, this is an exciting opportunity for an aspiring and experienced teacher ready to take the next step into Leadership. The successful candidate will receive first-rate leadership development, together with a sustained commitment from The Howard Partnership Trust (THPT) to professional career development, as well as regular coaching and mentoring.

At Kenyngton Manor Primary School we are proud to serve our community by bringing out the best in all of our children. We are an all-through nursery and primary school with two classes in each year group.

We have approximately 400 pupils aged 2-11, this includes the part-time pre-school and nursery provision. The nursery/pre-school provisions offers children and families a stimulating, well-resourced base in which to prepare for school readiness. We have excellent facilities, with well-equipped classrooms, a library, IT Suite, cookery room, a separate sports hall and a main school hall.

Our children also benefit from well-maintained outdoor play areas, including an all-weather sports pitch. Staff work in year group teams to collaboratively plan and deliver high quality lessons. Teaching assistants are highly skilled and play a critical role in supporting teachers and in securing excellent progress in pupils’ learning.

In addition to a competitive salary, the successful candidate will receive first-rate leadership development and a sustained commitment from THPT to their career.

We are looking for:

  • Outstanding leadership and the vision to accelerate progress on our improvement journey.
  • Proven track record of school improvement at middle leader level within the Primary Phase.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate to a range of stakeholders.
  • An innovative, collaborative leader, with the ability to inspire others.
  • A commitment to all pupils receiving an outstanding educational experience.
  • Thorough understanding of current educational developments.

We can offer:

  • Outstanding professional development.
  • Colleagues at all levels who are committed to excellence and bringing out the best in all our pupils.
  • Collaboration with successful, supportive and highly strategic senior leadership teams across The Howard Partnership Trust.
  • An opportunity to be part of a dynamic developing organisation.
  • Enthusiastic and eager pupils, a welcoming environment and a school with enormous potential to rise to the continual challenges facing education providers.
  • An Academy Trust and Governing Body that provides strong support, effective challenge and strategic direction.

THPT value their staff very highly, as reflected in the excellent retention rates across the Trust. THPT also operate an extensive Rewards and Benefits Scheme that includes Loyalty & Service Awards, access to discount schemes and membership of the Teacher Pension Scheme.

Closing date: 9am, Thursday 1 September 2022

Kenyngton Manor Primary School is located in Sunbury, with excellent transport routes into central and west London. The school is 2 miles from the M3, junction 1, and providing very easy access to the M25.

Our School is a two-form entry with a pupil admission number of 60. We have approximately 350 pupils aged 4-11 with additional part-time pre-school and nursery provision. There are 200 children in the infants including our reception classes and 170 children in the junior department. We have excellent facilities, well equipped classrooms and well maintained outdoor play areas. There is a Children’s Centre on site, a privately run Pre-School and a Breakfast Club.

The average class size is 24 and staff work in year group teams to collaboratively plan and deliver high quality lessons. All teachers are supported by teaching assistants. We believe that support staff play a critical role in securing outstanding progress in pupils’ learning.

Kenyngton Manor Primary School began working with THPT a term after the school was judged to be in need of Special Measures (Autumn 2012). In November 2013, two terms after The Partnership’s support began; Ofsted re-inspected the school, removed it from Special Measures and judged the Leadership and Management to be good. This represents one of the fastest rates of recovery of any school placed in a category following an inspection. The school is now on an exciting journey to secure a good or better overall judgement at the next inspection. The quality of teaching and rates of pupil progress are already accelerating, ensuring the children are getting off to a strong start in their school careers.

OFSTED Comments (November 2013):

• Strong and determined leadership by the Executive Headteacher and the Head of School has led to rapid improvement, particularly in the last nine months

• Collaboration with The Howard Partnership has made a strong contribution to the school’s improvement

• Pupils feel safe and secure in school. Their welfare is given high priority

• The results of the statutory tests in 2013 show that standards are improving

• Relationships between adult and pupils are good

Kay Scott, Head of School, comments on partnership working:

“The expertise and support within The Partnership is wide and varied. The ICT, Finance, Premises and HR departments ensure that school leaders can focus on the business of teaching and learning. Quality investment in the individuals within the school through well directed guidance and high quality CPD means the school rapidly continues on its school improvement journey”.
