Job overview

Assistant Principal Behaviour and Attitudes

L12-17

Start Date: September 2024

  •  Are you ready to take the next step in your leadership journey and want to experience a genuine opportunity to shape a whole school vision, alongside an excellent team of colleagues, students, and a supportive parent/carer community?
  • Do you want to join a school that has a very strong track record of delivering excellent outcomes whilst also being committed to self-development and staff wellbeing?
  • Are you a champion for every single student achieving excellence, being happy, and do you hold the highest ambition for what students can achieve (both inside and outside the classroom?)

The Board of Trustees of Audenshaw School wish to appoint an Assistant Principal for Behaviour and Attitudes to play a key part in our journey from being a ‘Good’ School (Ofsted March 2023), to a truly ‘Great’ school in all areas, moving forward.

As a very proud Single Academy Trust we can provide high levels of autonomy for our leaders in this ever-changing educational landscape allowing colleagues that hold leadership responsibility to really thrive, lead and feel empowered in key areas they can influence. We provide strong platforms of collaboration, partnership, and networking both locally and nationally whilst then also taking advantage of being a single entity thus leaders feeling they can drive improvement or lead changes swiftly in all areas.

‘Pupils are proud to be part of Audenshaw School. They respond well to the values of respect, responsibility and resilience which permeate the school. ‘Pupils typically behave well in lessons and around the school. Staff are well supported by leaders to manage pupils’ behaviour. Fair application of the behaviour policy and clear routines mean that school is a calm and purposeful place where pupils can learn without distraction.’ (Ofsted March 2023)

‘In recent times, leaders have improved many aspects of the school. Pupils, staff, parents and carers appreciate the changes that leaders have made. Staff embrace leaders’ new ideas. They are keen to develop professionally. They benefit from a strong offer of staff training. Staff morale is high. They appreciate how leaders consider their well-being and workload.’ (Ofsted March 2023)

We pride ourselves on the shared values of Respect, Responsibility and Resilience in all that we do. Aligned with these values, kindness and positivity are cornerstones that enable our young people to realise their full potential. For the right candidate, this is an extremely exciting time to join Audenshaw School. Behaviour is strong, with exceptional conduct around the school as pupils and staff greet visitors - and each other - with kindness and respect.

If you are an outstanding, enthusiastic, and ambitious middle or existing senior leader, who holds QTS, and has the ability and passion to inspire those around you, please get in touch! We welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate an unwavering passion for delivering ‘greatness’ and holding an unrelenting ambition that it can be achieved.

You will be part of a very supportive staff body (at a school with very low levels of staff turnover year to year), allowing for strategic school improvement, and a cohesive, supportive and very positive senior leadership team who have a track record of excellence whilst also being open and excited to self-develop for the benefit of themselves and students alike.

Finally, in what is the third year for the Principal in post it’s an excellent time to join the Audenshaw vision. You will be provided with excellent line management, development opportunities and be invested in having the opportunity to play a key role in realising a vision set out to move from ‘good’ to ‘great’ as a school in the forthcoming years.

We are in a healthy financial position, we are out of an Ofsted window (next due 2027/8), and we are even more passionate about what this next chapter could hold for our amazing school. Do you want to be part of what this vision could look like and more importantly what impact it could have on shaping so many young lives that will be moving through our school during the future years?

All visits will be with the School Principal and please do feel more than welcome to arrange a visit as we want to ensure all prospective candidates have an opportunity to see the school either ‘in action’ or at a time that suits you. Visits can be arranged with the Human Resources Department on recruitment@audenshawschool.org.uk or by calling the school on 0161 336 2133.

Any other informal questions or conversations that prospective candidates may have can be arranged as part of an informal telephone conversation with the Principal upon request.

This School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

The successful applicant’s appointment will be subject to satisfactory enhanced clearance by the Disclosure & Barring Service.

Application forms can be downloaded from the school website www.audenshawschool.org.uk or by emailing the Human Resources Department at recruitment@audenshaw.tameside.sch.uk. Full details of the vacancy can be found at https://www.audenshawschool.org.uk/current-vacancies/

Fully completed application forms should be returned to the school either by post or email.

The closing date for the vacancy is: Monday 22nd April 2024 at 12 noon and interviews will take place w/c 29th April 2024.
