The academy is seeking to appoint an Assistant Principal: Teaching and Learning for September 2017. The successful candidate will be a member of our Senior Leadership Team with responsibility for leading and developing our Mathematics department.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • an existing Assistant Principal, an outstanding Head of Faculty or equivalent with a proven record of imaginative and successful leadership in all aspects of Teaching & Learning;
  • strong on vision with the ability to enthuse others and implement ideas;
  • able to inspire and motivate students to develop to their full potential;
  • an innovative and collaborative leader.
  • Mathematician desireable but not essential.

Shenley Academy have outstanding facilities, a new building and a highly positive learning environment. The mathematics team is fully staffed and one of the largest teams in the academy.

Located in the Weoley Castle area of southwest Birmingham, Shenley provides an attractive, calm and orderly environment, where students are encouraged to grow into polite and well-mannered individuals. The building is bright and spacious, and the huge 30 acre site provides outstanding outdoor learning facilities. A new £24m building for the Academy was completed and opened in September 2012, providing state-of-the-art facilities for students and staff.

Specialist teaching areas are equipped to a very high standard. The building comprises excellent indoor and outdoor sports areas, a theatre with tiered, and a Learning Resource Centre that is extensively used by the students for personal study.

With a £1.4m investment in ICT and staff training in the use of ICT to improve learning, Shenley is rapidly achieving its aim of becoming one of the most advanced state schools in the use of new technology.

The Academy has created an inclusive community where students feel valued, supported and engaged in their learning.
