Job overview

Ossett Academy & Sixth Form College’s Governing Body are seeking to appoint an aspirational Director of Sixth Form to lead and develop the established Sixth Form into an exceptional Post 16 provision. The role presents an exciting opportunity for an aspiring middle leader or existing senior leader to join a vibrant and innovative Academy as part of our Senior Leadership Team.

Ossett Academy & Sixth Form College is an 11-19 Academy with over 1,670 students including 300 students in the Sixth Form. We maintain high standards across all aspects of Academy life with high academic attainment and an explosion of extra-curricular opportunity and talent.

Most recently we made the decision to form a Multi Academy Trust (MAT) with a local secondary school and two primary schools. Our move into the Accord Multi Academy Trust is exciting. Our vision is that Accord develops our knowledge of learning from primary to secondary so that students have access to a wider range of opportunities in order to achieve excellence. Our MAT is different from many others as there is no lead school/academy; it is truly a partnership between like-minded institutions driven to provide the best possible outcomes for their learners. We are looking to appoint an inspiring leader who is an outstanding teacher with the enthusiasm and commitment to grow and develop the Sixth form and contribute to whole school improvement. If you are passionate about providing young people with a safe, supportive environment in which to ensure their success, we would like to hear from you.

Closing date for applications is Sunday 9 October 2016

Interviews to be held Tuesday 18 and Wednesday 19 October 2016

About Ossett Academy & Sixth Form College

Ossett Academy is an 11-19 academy with over 1670 pupils, including 300 in our Sixth Form. It has gained a reputation for excellence, maintaining high standards across all aspects of academy life with high academic attainment and an explosion of extra-curricular opportunity and talent. As a result of these factors and their strong reputation, they are significantly over-subscribed.

Their strong tradition of success is built on a firm foundation of personalised pastoral care, ensuring a climate for learning that is calm, well ordered and secure. Recognising the hard work and efforts of pupils in their lessons, the academy puts learning and positive recognition of both staff and pupils, at the heart of its approach.

The academy understands that collaboration is an important aspect to the ongoing development of schools and academies and, with this in mind, it continues to play a key role alongside its primary pyramid, as a member of Education Ossett Community Trust (EOCT). EOCT aims to provide world-class opportunities for the community of Ossett, supporting young people aged 3 to 18 to develop a lifelong passion for learning, across a range of experiences.

Further to this partnership approach, Ossett Academy works alongside Horbury Academy, Horbury Primary Academy and Middlestown Primary Academy as part of the Accord Multi Academy Trust. The vision of this partnership is to enhance both practice and knowledge of learning across primary and secondary education, whilst also providing access for pupils and staff to an even better range of opportunities in order to achieve excellence.

Principal: Mrs S Broome
