Overview of Role

We are seeking an inspirational and dedicated individual to join us as an Assistant Principal at Coleg Cambria. Reporting to the Vice Principal, this role is responsible for driving the curriculum provision and agenda across Yale 6th, embodying the principles of selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty, and leadership.

Yale 6th delivers all of the College’s A level provision that is based at the Yale Campus, and currently comprises 34 separate subjects delivered by a team of over 50 staff. Student numbers are growing and in 2022/23 over 700 learners studied A levels at Yale 6th.

As the Assistant Principal, you will support the achievement of the College's and Directorate's key strategies and objectives by translating strategic requirements into effective operational activities, leading and managing a team of staff to ensure the development, planning, delivery, and monitoring of the curriculum and learner experience. You will embed key requirements related to teaching, learning, assessment, and quality within the sub-directorate and contribute to the continuous improvement of teaching, learning, assessment, and quality across the College.

In addition, you will provide high-quality support for all learners, ensure effective staff utilisation, manage learner-related matters such as disciplinaries and pastoral support, and develop strong partnerships with stakeholders. Your leadership responsibilities include recruitment, induction, staff development, appraisal, performance management, and active participation in new initiatives.

You will assume overall responsibility for performance within Yale 6th, attending management team meetings and contributing to the review, planning, and development of the curriculum to meet learner, employer, and community needs. Ensuring compliance with health and safety guidelines, maximising staff utilisation, and fostering partnerships with external stakeholders are also key responsibilities.

Within the Quality domain, you will complete activities outlined in the Quality Strategy, including internal verification procedures, self-assessment documentation, and the monitoring of targets. Risk management, health and safety compliance for commercial operations, and monitoring the quality of the learning experience are part of your role.

You will lead the creation of a stimulating learning environment, support the development of learning strategies, manage the sub-directorate budget and resources, and engage in professional development. Ensuring acceptable standards of learner behaviour, undertaking additional duties as assigned, and achieving key measures of success such as learner achievement, progression, and retention are also expected.

The College also has similar sized A level provision at our Deeside Campus, overseen by another Assistant Principal. A key part of your role will involve working effectively with the Assistant Principal of Deeside 6th, under the leadership of the Vice Principal.
