Are you a degree-qualified Psychologist? Are you looking to build a rewarding career with an organisation that’s dedicated to changing young lives for the better?

At Witherslack Group’s outstanding schools and homes, we’re dedicated to helping children and young people with complex, challenging needs. We offer expert care and first-rate facilities, all designed to support and speed the development of young lives. As an Assistant Psychologist, you’ll make a huge difference, playing a big part in creating more positive outcomes through this highly rewarding role. And there’s plenty of positives for you too - we’ll help you develop your abilities with training and opportunities to support your ambitions of becoming an Educational or Clinical Psychologist.

The role

As part of our dedicated team, you’ll provide psychological support and assessments for pupils and residents under the supervision of a qualified Psychologist. You’ll then create plans for psychological interventions, as you decide what’s appropriate to deliver the best results. Working as part of the team around the child that enable positive outcomes, you’ll liaise with parents, carers, colleagues and partner agencies. You’ll detect and address any emerging mental health issues, and will manage the children within the classroom. Some may exhibit very challenging behaviour, so both a resilient and empathetic approach will be key. Internally, you’ll be using your experience to support and develop the skills of the wider team, such as Support Workers.

Your profile

With a degree (or equivalent) in Psychology, you’ll be eligible for graduate BPS membership. Your degree should include components relating to young people and mental health or autism, plus you’ll have worked with young people with SEMH and/or ASD for a minimum of 2 years. With this background, you’ll know all about safeguarding rules and practice.

Crucially, you share the Witherslack ethos of offering the very highest standards of care to deliver the best outcomes for young people in all our homes and schools.

Rewards

We know you’re going to do great things. We offer a salary and benefits package that’s among the best in our sector. You’ll receive a competitive salary, 35 days holiday, contributory pension (matched up to 5%) and comprehensive induction and ongoing training, as well as extensive Group staff benefits such as Medicash Health Plan/Employee Assistance and Cycle to Work Scheme.

For an informal discussion about the role please contact Waveney Patel - Regional Director (Clinical) on 07918581509 .

The Witherslack Group is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its young people. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check. We are an equal opportunities employer welcoming applications from all sections of the community.
