Assistant School Caretaker 

Caretaking & Maintenance

Full time – 35 hours x 52 Weeks

Scale 3 – Point 14 to 17 (£18,507- £19,567)

Our School

· We are a high achieving 11 -18 school with examination results amongst the best in the country. Ofsted rated the school as “an Outstanding Catholic School” in our most recent Inspection. The School is a designated TDA Training School and has retained its Investors in People status over a prolonged period. We are also a National Support School and our Headteacher is a designated National Leader of Education.

· We are heavily over-subscribed and enjoy an excellent reputation for our positive ethos and pastoral support systems.

The Post

The Governing Body is looking to appoint an Assistant School Caretaker who will be flexible, show commitment and have both excellent organisation and inter-personal skills. The role requires someone who has initiative and adopts a “hands-on” approach in working as a part of the school community. 

The successful applicant will also possess practical skills which will contribute to general school premises maintenance and improvement work.

Duties will include:

· Supporting the ethos of the school

· Opening and locking up the school premises.

· Acting as a key holder and responding to alarm calls.

· Supporting the work of the school by ensuring that the premises are fit for purpose – clean, functional, secure and safe.

· Supporting aspects of site caretaking including security, premises, health and safety and cleaning.

· Assisting in carrying out facility improvements/maintenance projects.

· Overseeing the work of external contractors.

· Complying with Health and safety legislation and procedures and ensuring that appropriate Health and safety checks are carried out.
