Job overview

An exciting opportunity to join the team at Oasis Academy Sholing

This is a pivotal role where you will support the SENDCo in ensuring that all students with special needs have an appropriate provision and that they receive a broad well-balanced and relevant education and make good progress.

The role and what we’re looking for

You will work with the SENDCo and support them in the day-to-day running of the SEND provision. Your work will complement the strategy for supporting every one of our young people with special educational needs to reach their potential. You will develop and lead high-impact interventions for numeracy and literacy, liaising with teaching staff to embed these in a programme of integrated learning within mainstream education throughout the school. The role has line management responsibilities for a team of dedicated Teaching Assistants, who continue to develop their specific focus areas.

You will be working with a great team of staff who believe all students deserve our full support to achieve their very best, so we are looking for someone like-minded. You must be passionate about creating change for the better within the academy and in the wider community. Previous experience working within a school is desirable.

Our academy

We are an over-subscribed academy dedicated to celebrating success through world-class aspiration and a love of learning. Our focus is on our students, staff well-being and working with parents to ensure the wider community is engaged with our school, supporting our leaders, and playing an active role in community transformation through academy-led projects. Being part of the Oasis Community Learning Trust, we work to collaborate sharing of best practices with our regional schools, Regional Director, and the wider Oasis family.

Our offer to you

When you join the Sholing family, there are several offers you will receive that make us stand out as an employer of choice. These include but are not limited to:

  • An exceptional CPD offer, including fortnightly personalised incremental coaching, weekly academy-wide and department-based CPD, and termly Trust-based CPD.
  • Access to an iPad for all staff/students, enabling the use of Formative and other online self-marking assessment resources.
  • Access to eye care vouchers and a national Cycle to Work scheme.
  • Access to the Health Shield Cash Plan, which can include 24/7 access to a GP, assistance with the cost, and access to dental treatment, eye care, physiotherapy, and chiropody.
  • Support to balance your work/life/caring responsibilities via our Time Off Work Policy, Menopause Policy, flexible working and Sabbatical Policy.
  • Trust-wide recognition of the challenges to mental health facing both staff and students and the support of our National Mental Health Team, which is staffed by professionally qualified mental health nurses.
