Job overview

Permanent, full time or part time (minimum of 4 days a week)

We are seeking to appoint a full time or part time Assistant SENDCo to join our Learning Support Department to work closely with the SENDCo to implement the strategic development of the School’s Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) policy and oversee the day-to-day operation of that policy with the aim of raising SEND pupil achievement within the School.

The Learning Support Department is able to provide 1:1 tuition for all pupils within the School to enhance their learning. This can take the form of study skills provision offering a bespoke system of learning ready for external exams, or specialist support for dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADHD or associated working memory issues. We provide whole year group support in the form of our VESPA programme (Vision, Effort, Systems, Practice and Attitude) for Year 11 pupils, to enable them to manage the GCSE process effectively, and to develop the ‘soft skills’ they will need in Higher Education and beyond.

An SpLD qualification at Level 5 or Level 7 is an essential requirement for this position.

We have a small, homely boarding community with a mix of full, weekly and flexi-boarders.

An all-girls’ school since founded in 1918, Luckley moved to coeducation in September 2015, with a phased transition and became fully coeducational in 2019.

We offer an extensive range of subjects at GCSE and A level, as well as a diverse co-curricular programme.

Luckley House School is often described by visitors as “a gem”. The uniqueness of our school lies in the combination of our size, Christian ethos and flexibility to meet the needs of individual pupils and their families.
