About the role

This role will have responsibility for enhancing participation and provision across the academy within enrichment before, during and after school. You will organise and deliver events, clubs and fixtures on the school site and support Primary Outreach. 

The role will also work closely with the Head of PE and Sports Enrichment Officer to ensure all enrichment opportunities are promoted, reported, and organised to a high standard. 

You will also run community sport sessions at Havelock Academy in the evening, and encourage Havelock and Humberston pupils to attend, alongside DRET Primary pupils. 

Permanent role, 35 hours per week, 40 weeks per year, based in Grimsby

Who we are looking for

  • NGB qualification or significant experience within sport
  • Passion for sport and experience in coaching, development, organisation or delivery of sport
  • Experience of working with young people
  • Ability to plan, organise and deliver successful sports sessions
  • Willing to learn, and keen to progress as an individual
  • Positive role model, demonstrating self-motivation and mature interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain a warm, respectful and valued rapport with young people
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written) including presentations
  • Able to use your own initiative to drive participation and improve performance
  • High personal and professional standards, including recognition of the confidentiality issues impacting upon work in a school
  • Awareness of safeguarding legislation and issues and full commitment to safeguarding practice
  • Willingness to travel for competitions, events and fixtures
  • Ability to communicate with pupils, parents, staff and other members of the Trust
  • Enthusiastic and energetic approach, with a can-do attitude
  • Flexible approach to duties undertaken and working
  • Ability to deliver and manage sessions with large numbers of students

About Havelock Academy

Located in the town of Grimsby, Lincolnshire, Havelock Academy is a co-educational secondary school. Havelock has around 1000 pupils aged 11-18, making it slightly larger than the average secondary school. The school has an economically diverse catchment area, a fact reflected in its student intake. Originally known as Havelock school, it was established in the 1960s, adopting its current name in 2007 upon its conversion to an academy. The school is part of the David Ross Education Trust, a multi-academy trust responsible for a large number of schools across the Midlands and the north of England.
